Museum
El Kobba Museum
Under a ribbed dome unique in Tunisia, a former caravanserai in the medina tells the story of everyday life and crafts in old Sousse.

The story of the building
In the heart of the medina, El Kobba is a gem of Arab-Muslim architecture. Its zigzag dome, dated to the eleventh century, is unique in Tunisia. The building served as an inn (fondouk) for passing merchants and travellers, then as a café, before becoming a museum of Sousse’s trades and crafts.
The collections
Pottery, traditional jewellery, costumes and old tools of the region’s artisans. Reconstructed scenes — a wedding, a hammam, a workshop — bring daily life of the past back to the surface.
The view
From the museum’s terrace, the whole medina: narrow lanes, white domes and minarets.
